About our cause
With a team of 11 trained mindfulness facilitators, the Highland Mindfulness Group aims to improve the lives and mental wellbeing of people across the Highlands.
We have a regular programme of free drop-in sessions 6 days a week on Zoom, as well as fortnightly sessions in Inverness and monthly Slow Down Saturdays in Golspie. We also offer themed meditation days, taster sessions, workshops and retreats. We have a range of courses for all levels of experience from beginners to advanced as we aim to give long-term support to people throughout their mindfulness journey. Our website features hundreds of guided meditations which are free to download.
Our trained facilitators teach meditation techniques in small groups in a supportive environment which help individuals to develop confidence, kindness and self-compassion through shared experiences and peer support. This increases resilience, reduces loneliness and improves interpersonal skills.
Testimonials
- “A wonderful space to learn and grow my practice. Lovely people and a great support network of professionals.”
- “These are very well organised sessions with a group of very supportive, friendly and skilled facilitators.“
- “A warm accepting space...a chance to learn to reconnect with myself.”
- “On the days I meditate I often feel much calmer for the rest of the day, more in tune with my feelings and effect on others, less reactive to situations, for that I am very grateful. The sessions you offer are brilliant.”
- “Amazing course, it has really changed my life, I have so much more energy at work, social life.”
Mindfulness can bring more awareness, gratitude, kindness & compassion into our lives and can help us feel more relaxed and able to cope. It is a well validated scientific approach which can help with stress, anxiety, depression, isolation, long term health conditions and chronic pain.
Please help to support our charity’s work. Funds raised through the Highland Community Lottery will help us to offer subsidised places on courses for those on low/no income. It will also help with running costs and venue hire so we can continue to reach more people and help them to lead happier, more fulfilling lives.
You can email Daniel our project coordinator on [email protected] for further info about what we offer. And you can also learn more about our events and facilitator team members via our website.
